The core production team consisted of Deirdre Collender, Michael Desmond Chrissy Knight O’Connor and Muireann NicCaba. A number of other friends were drafted in as crew over the past 12 months to help with the interviews and the re-enactments. It was very much a case of everyone helping. In some instances actors helped out on filming and in other cases members of the crew stepped in as extras in the set.

Most of the interviews took place in a temporary studio we set up for the duration. This simplified the preparation and setting up of equipment for each interview. We dis go on site for some interviews and this added more variety to the process.

Interview with Ivan Lennon

A temporary studio was set up where most of the interviews were conducted. The re-enactments were filmed at two locations near Ballymacarbry and we are very grateful for all the help and support in that regard. Special thanks to Brendan O’Brien of the Battle Group re-enactments.

Actors in the re-enactment at The Half Way House

The photos below were taken at one of the days we filmed at the old Half Way House pub. Thanks to Will Condon for access to the location and his role as an actor in the film. Many of the crew and actors have been involved in all three films since 2019. It is now a very tight and efficient group with a can do attitude.

Deirdre Collender has been involved in all three films as both actor and director of drama and re-enactments. Michael Desmond has played a key role not just as interviewee in all three films but also played a key role in researching and advisory role on all matters relating to the period.

The second location we used near Ballymacarbry was thanks to Paudie Halpin. Paudie has been involved in all three films since 2019. This location is very special as it has an old building and several old laneways that are ideal when trying to re-create scenes from the 1920s.
